Instructor Qualification Standard V2 - FAQs

Q1	How do I become an IQT Trainer?	Reference:
You will be certified through an IQTT course. To participate in the IQTT course, you must apply via GWO Event page. You can read more about Instructor Qualification on our website.		IQT V2, section 9.4

Q2	Can I use the Instructor Qualification Process if I have 100 hours Vocational teaching experience?	Reference:
No, you would need to take the IQT or IQTX, or have a similar instructor training that meets the IQT gap analysis criteria.		GWO Requirements for Training, section 8.1

Q3	If I have the IQT can I still do the POCD process?	Reference:
Yes, you can even do the POCD process as part of the Instructor Qualification Process.		GWO Requirements for Training, section 8.1

Q4	I have completed the gap analysis on an IQT equivalent program (e.g. internal instructor training, Level 3, Cert 4, Bachelors in Adult Education or higher). How can I address the gaps and use the Instructor Qualification Process?	Reference:
Depending on the gaps identified, instructors with similar training can use the IQTX or subject specific course work as gap training. An academic educational education on bachelor level or above is equivalent to IQT.  The IQT Recognition form must be used to document the equivalent education and any gaps identified. Q5	Can I use the Alternative Process?	Reference:
The Instructor Qualification Process is an update to the former “Alternative Process”.		GWO Requirements for Training, section 8.1

Q6	Do I have to take the IQT/IQTX as part of the Instructor Qualification Process?	Reference:
No, IQT and IQTX are one way to achieve the instructional background prerequisite. Other formal instructor qualification that meets or exceeds GWO IQT is another way.		GWO Requirements for Training, section 8.1

Q7	Do all existing instructors have to do IQT or IQTX to go through the Instructor Qualification Process?	Reference:
No, existing GWO instructors’ instructional background have already been approved.		GWO Requirements for Training, section 8.1.1

Q7	How can I deliver IQT and IQTX?	Reference:
You must apply and successfully complete the IQTT course held by GWO to become a qualified IQT Trainer.		IQT Standard, section 5.10

Q8	I have delivered Train-the-Trainer courses for some years – can I also deliver IQT and IQTX courses?	Reference:
No - You must apply and successfully complete an IQTT course held by GWO to become a qualified IQT Trainer.		IQT Standard, section 5.10

Q9	When does GWO deliver IQTT?	Reference:

Q10	If I did not take an IQTT course and still I am offering an IQT based training to new instructors -same curriculum, same length, but under a different name – could we still assign the participants an IQT training record?	Reference:
No – only qualified IQT Trainers can deliver IQT and IQTX courses that leads to IQT or IQTX training records.		IQT Standard, section 5.10

Q11	How can I deliver an IQTT course?	Reference:
You must apply and meet pre-requisites listed below. Only specifically approved IQTT Teachers can deliver IQTT 1)     Adult learning education at level 6 or above (EQF/Academy level), 2)     Experience in delivering IQT and IQTX courses or similar, and 3)     Approval by GWO Head of Training Development		IQT Standard, section 5.10

Q12	I am a Training Provider. Can my IQT Trainer certify new IQT Trainers?	Reference:
No, IQT Trainers are qualified through successful completion of an IQTT course.		IQT Standard, section 5.10

Q13	Can the IQT and IQTX courses be done online?	Reference:
The IQT course can be done partially online, while IQTX and IQTT are taught in-person. You can find further guidance in the IQT Standard. You can request to have a training delivered in your area.		IQT Standard, section 5.6 – Training settings

Q14	Can only Training Providers become IQTT-Training-Provider?	Reference:
An IQT Trainer, who delivers IQT and IQTX courses, must be employed by a certified GWO training provider who is certified for IQT. An IQTT Teacher, who delivers IQTT courses, can be employed by a certified GWO training provider or GWO member company or GWO Secretariat and must be approved by the GWO Head of Training and Development. Q15	I have taken the IQT/IQTX, can I now deliver GWO training?	Reference:
No, the IQT alone does not qualify you to deliver GWO training. The IQT serves as Instructional Background and provides training in how to teach. You must go through either the POCD or the Instructor Qualification Process first to qualify to deliver GWO training.		GWO Requirements for Training, section 8.1

Q16	Do I get a training record when I have successfully completed the Instructor Qualification Process?	Reference:
Yes, you will get an Instructor Profile in WINDA.		GWO Requirements for Training, section 8.1

Q17	How do I as a Training Provider get the module IQT/IQTX on scope?	Reference:
You will need to be audited by your Certification Body, either during a ordinary surveillance where extra time is allocated or during an extraordinary audit. The auditor needs to review documents and process over all (not for a specific instructor) and approve that it would meet the requirements for qualifying instructors. Afterwards the auditor must add the modules into WINDA. The audit can be done remotely.  A guidance of the required time for this audit would be 3 hours.		GWO Requirements for Training, section 8.1

Q18	Can the IQT be delivered in any training setting?	Reference:
Yes, the IQT can be delivered anywhere when ensuring that the facilities, resources and equipment are safe and functional, as described in GWO Requirements for Training. Furthermore, only the IQT Training may be delivered partially online, while IQTX and IQTT must be delivered in-person.		Requirements for Training, section 7.1.2 IQT Standard, Element 5.6
