WaH Module
| Q4 | There was an Amendment released Oct 30, is it still applicable? | Reference: |
| This update of the WaH module incorporates the changes from the Amendment to Ladder use in WTG, effective on October 30, 2025. This amendment ensures alignment with manufacturer requirements and industry guidelines, while clarifying for participants how and when reinforced ladder rungs may be used. It supports safe decision-making by emphasising that reinforced rungs must only be used when clearly identified as suitable. This amendment was incorporated into both the WaH module of the BST V20, and the WLA Onshore module V3. Following the upcoming release of the BST V20 and WLA V3 on March 10, 2026, the amendments will be removed from the GWO website. | BST V20 Section 13 Working At Height Initial Training BST V20 Section 14 Working At Height Refresher Training WLA V3 Section 7 Module 1 Onshore Limited Access | |

Combined Initial and Refresher Training in single standard
| Q8 | Where can I find the refresher training content? | Reference: |
| Refresher training is now included as a separate section within the corresponding module in the BST standard. Please refer to the table of contents in the BST Standard for the exact locations of refresher training within the standard. | GWO Technical Bulletin 01 | |
| Q9 | Why were initial and refresher training combined into a single standard? | Reference: |
Initial and refresher training are now defined as different training options available under a single module. This change provides several benefits:
| BST V20 | |
| Q10 | What are the main updates to the Refresher Trainings? | Reference: |
All refresher training will be delivered in two phases. Firstly, the participants must complete skills stations to refresh the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for them to participate in the training scenarios. Upon successful completion of the skills stations, the participants will then complete the industry-relevant training scenarios. A new annex was added New Annex 4: Guidance on Skill Stations and Scenarios. Clarification of participant pre-requisites was added to sections 5.5 Validity Periods, 5.7 Participant Prerequisites, and each module's refresher training section, specifying that participants must possess a valid WINDA initial or refresher training record to attend refresher training. Section 6 also states that each module's Initial Training and Refresher Training sections must be delivered separately. | BST V20 Sections: 5.5, 5.7, Annex 4
| Q11 | What is Annex 4: Guidance on Skill Stations and Scenarios? | Reference: |
| This annex provides guidance on understanding, setting up, and delivering skill stations and scenarios, including clear expectations for both instructors and participants. | BST V20 Annex 4 | |
Scheduling Flexibility
| Q12 | Can I still deliver refresher training and initial training together? | Reference: |
No. Initial training and refresher training must be delivered separately because participants have different prerequisites for the refresher training. Prerequisites are listed in section 5.7 Participant Prerequisites for the BST. The requirement for separate delivery is specified in Section 6 of the standard: “Each module is divided into two sections: Initial Training and Refresher Training and is required to be delivered separately”. | BST V20 Section 5.7 Participant Prerequisites
| Q13 | Can I schedule refresher participants on initial courses? | Reference: |
| Yes. Participants who hold a valid training record can attend the initial training. This is stated in section 5.7 Participant Prerequisites for the BST. “Current BST training record holders can attend either a refresher training or an initial training. | BST V20 Section 5.7 Participant Prerequisites GWO Requirements for training | |
Participant prerequisites
| Q15 | What are the prerequisites of the refresher training? | Reference: |
| In the BST Standard, Sections 5.5 Validity Periods, 5.7 Participant Prerequisites, and each module's refresher training section specify that participants must possess a valid WINDA initial or refresher training record of the corresponding module to attend refresher training. | BST V20, Sections 5.5 Validity Periods, 5.7 Participant Prerequisites | |
Instructor prerequisites
| Q16 | Are the Instructor prerequisites for BST refresher training different from the initial training? | Reference: |
| No. Requirements are the same, and there is no difference in basic qualification between initial and refresher training of the same module. | BST V20 | |
| Q17 | Do I need to change my current class schedules? | Reference: |
| No. Current training scheduling can be maintained as long as first-time participants are not scheduled on refresher courses and the participants are awarded the relevant course code, depending on whether they have been booked on an initial or refresher course. The Course codes can be found in section 5.6 Course Codes. | BST V20 Section 5.6 Course Codes. | |
